The First 14 Days:
What to Expect

We know this part can feel urgent.
Here’s how the first two weeks typically unfold
when medication support is being considered.

Step 1: Complete Your Questionnaire

After purchase, you’ll complete a short supplemental questionnaire inside the Portal.
This gives our specialist team important context about your pet’s history, including prior medication trials, so we can support your veterinarian thoughtfully and efficiently. The sooner this is completed, the sooner we can move.

Step 2: We Prepare Guidance for Your Veterinarian

Within three business days of receiving your completed questionnaire, Ease sends our board-certified veterinary behaviorist prepared medication and supplement guidelines to your referring veterinarian. These are sent directly to your vet, along with an invitation to consult further with our specialists at any time. You’ll receive an email confirmation when this has been sent.
In some cases, our team may recommend a brief clarifying conversation with you before sending guidance. When this happens, it may extend the timeline slightly.

Step 3: Your Vet Reviews & Schedules Follow-Up

Most clinics schedule a medication follow-up with you within 1–2 weeks of receiving our guidance. If you haven’t heard from your clinic after about two weeks and are eager to explore medication, we recommend contacting them directly to request an appointment. Your veterinarian remains the prescribing doctor.

Sometimes Timelines Shift

If your pet has trialed multiple medications before, your veterinarian may choose to consult with our specialists right away. When this happens, it can add a few days. Our specialists respond within three business days to our partner veterinarians, often sooner.

What You Can Do Right Now

You do not need to wait. You can begin working through your pet’s behavior plan immediately while medication decisions are being finalized. Early environmental changes that reduce stress often make a meaningful difference.

A Quick Reminder

  • Ease specialists collaborate directly with your veterinarian
  • Ease does not prescribe medication directly
  • Contact Ease for behavior, training, or process questions
  • Contact your vet for prescriptions and medication adjustments

The Role of Medication

Behavioral pharmacology has evolved since the days of one-size-fits-all pet meds. Did you know that underlying stress can be a major factor in your pet’s unwanted behavior? Reducing your pet’s stress with a medication can help unlock the progress you’ve hoped to make. Just like people, pets learn better when they’re calm and relaxed.

At Ease, our veterinary behaviorists carefully consider combinations, dosages, and timing so your pet feels like the best version of themselves on medication – never sedated or withdrawn.
